BCJPD 2nd Annual Fiesta Event
This year’s BCJPD event was held on April 7, 2022. It was a wonderful success and hopefully next year’s Fiesta Event will be even bigger and better! Several specialty programs participated in the fundraiser. Our unit, Volunteers in Probation, sold a beef brisket meal which included a beef brisket sandwich, potato chips and a big red. We presold several meals to the detention staff and sold the rest during the Fiesta Event within an hour! We also had a photo booth where you could buy a Fiesta themed picture of yourself and others for $5.00 and each additional print for $2.00. In addition, we also had a donation raffle! Also, with a $5.00 donation you were entered into a drawing to win a fire pit with a fiesta themed service for six which included plates, bowls, margarita glasses, water glasses, a salsa dip container, tortilla warmer and confetti eggs.
Several other programs participated in the Fiesta Event and sold a variety of items. The Crossover Unit sold Candy apples and Chamoy, which is a type of Mexican candy. The Parent project and GED program sold fruit cups and Aguas Frescas. The Krier Youth Council sold a hotdog meal with chips and fresh lemonade. Krier Youth Administration sold Frito Pies, Waters and Sodas. The CHAPS program provided an opportunity for you to buy an apple for horses. CSR and Enrichment sold Raspas, Corn in a cup and provided a dunking booth. The dunking booth was especially popular. Even the Chief took a turn in the booth!
The Fiesta event was from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. This was a perfect window of time to have the event! This allowed many of our staff to attend the event during their lunch hour. Because of the success of last year’s and this year’s BCJPD Fiesta Event, our administration plans to make this a yearly celebration. I’m already looking forward to next year!
